Galtier Gives Latest on Messi, Mbappe Injuries After PSG’s Loss vs. AS Monaco

Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier has the biggest challenge of his coaching career as he attempts to steer the capital club, who are in the middle of a two-game losing streak ahead of their UEFA Champions League first leg match.

After this week’s losses to Olympique de Marseille and AS Monaco, the French giants head into the matchup against the Germain giants with two major injuries to Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.

Galtier spoke postgame after the loss to Monaco on Saturday at the Stade-Louis II to Prime Video, where he shared the latest news on Mbappe and Messi ahead of the match.

“No, concerning Kylian, the period of unavailability was defined from the start,” Galtier said (h/t CulturePSG). “He’s a sprinter with a muscle injury. Leo felt discomfort at the end of the game in Marseille. He should resume training tomorrow or even Monday. We will take stock at that time.”

PSG isn’t going into the matchup with Bayern Munich playing convincing football; some consider what the club is going through to be a crisis, and if the French giants don’t win on Tuesday, the alarms will get louder.

It will be interesting to see if the team can galvanize together and come away with a victory over the Bavarian side.
