Premier League: Former Player Questions Why PSG Didn’t Pursue Manchester United Star Last Summer

Paris Saint-Germain sporting advisor Luis Campos overhauled the midfield position last summer when the club chief brought in four new players: Carlos Soler, Fabian Ruiz, Renato Sanches and Vitinha.

However, it’s been a bag of mixed results. As a result, Campos might head back to the drawing board to find the right combination of players to elevate the position. Former PSG player Christophe Jallet questioned why the French giants weren’t in on Casemiro.

Casemiro exited Real Madrid this past summer and left for Manchester United. Nonetheless, Jallet questions why Campos and Co. weren’t in on the veteran midfielder, who is a three-time UEFA Champions League winner and would be a leader for the group.

“I don’t understand why PSG hasn’t positioned itself on a player like Casemiro,” Jallet said on Canal Football Club (h/t Football 365). “He’s someone who doesn’t want the light and who works in the shadows. Who asks nothing of anyone but who responds on the ground.”

By the moves that Campos made last summer transfer window, it appears he wanted to inject youth into the midfield. No player who arrived was over 26 years old, but that might be a coincidence. It will be interesting to see if PSG brings in a veteran or goes with players of a certain age this summer.
