Christophe Galtier Drops a Crucial Lionel Messi Injury Update

Paris Saint-Germain will be without Lionel Messi for its upcoming league clash with AS Monaco, but Christophe Galtier has made clear that the Argentine will be available to play against Bayern Munich next week.

On Friday, PSG officially ruled out Messi from its Ligue 1 away fixture against AS Monaco due to a hamstring injury that he suffered during the Coupe de France round of 16 clash against Olympique de Marseille. PSG also noted that the Argentine forward will “undergo treatment for 48 hours.”

During a press conference on Friday, Galtier revealed that Messi will return to training on Monday, and the veteran forward is expected to feature in PSG’s UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg matchup against Bayern Munich.

“Regarding Leo, he felt a muscle fatigue,” Galtier said. “He will resume training on Monday, before the game against Bayern. … So you can forget about him being a doubt.”

Messi ended up playing in the entirety of PSG’s French cup loss to Marseille on Wednesday.

PSG is slated to count on Neymar to lead its attack against AS Monaco in the absence of both Messi and also Kylian Mbappe, who is still nursing a thigh ailment.
