FC Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain is likely the most attractive matchup of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 fixtures.
As the German giants prepare for the contest, defender Dayot Upamecano revealed the mindset that he and the squad have as they head to the French capital for Tuesday’s clash at the Parc des Princes.
Upamecano noted that the Bundesliga side isn’t going to Paris for a draw; they’re heading to get a win and leave with the result that will allow them to close out PSG at home in the return leg on March 8.
“It’s going to be a big game for both teams,” Upamecano said in a recent interview (h/t Paris Fans). “We have to be ready and in top form. Our objective is to win in Paris. We go there with this attitude. We will not play for a draw; we are Bayern.”
PSG, meanwhile, will head into the first leg without Mbappe and there are questions about whether Lionel Messi and Achraf Hakimi will be available for the game as both suffered injuries in Wednesday’s loss to Olympique de Marseille on Wednesday at the Stade Vélodrome.
It’s a challenging task, but manager Christophe Galtier needs to pull out all the stops to ensure that the capital club comes out with a victory.
