Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi will be a free agent in June when his contract with the capital club expires. While it remains a mystery where the 35-year-old will play for the 2023-24 season, there’s one place he won’t suit up, FC Barcelona.
During a live broadcast on Twitch hosted by one of Lionel Messi’s nephews, the brother of the Argentine star, Matias Messi, let loose on the departure of the Argentine from the Catalan side.
“I have a SPORT press clipping (note, Catalan newspaper) stuck in my house which says: ‘Messi should return to Barcelona,’ “Matias said. “I had a good laugh. We’re not going back to Barcelona, and if we do, we’ll do a good cleanup. Among them, expel Joan Laporta.”

Messi’s brother didn’t stop there as he went into further details, claiming there was no support for the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner to remain at the Camp Nou.
“People in Barcelona did not support Lionel Messi,” Matias continued. “They should have come out for some protest or something, gotten Joan Laporta out and let my brother stay. The Spaniards are traitors. I say that because it comes out of our guts.”
PSG appears to be leading the race to sign Messi to an extension, but the capital club does have competition for the veteran as Inter Miami is in the mix to bring the Argentine to the United States.
It will be interesting to see where Messi will continue his football career, but one thing is for sure, his brother might advise him to stay clear of Barcelona.
