Paris Saint-Germain has officially ruled out Neymar from its upcoming Ligue 1 away fixture against Montpellier, the club announced on Tuesday.
Neymar is “suffering” from muscle fatigue, which forced him to miss PSG’s collective training session a day ahead of its league clash with Montpellier. The Brazilian international will “remain” in treatment for his minor ailment, and his status for PSG’s league matchup against Toulouse on Ligue 1 matchday 22 is currently up in the air.
Neymar has been a reliable player for the Ligue 1 powerhouse this season, featuring in 18 out of its 20 league fixtures to date. He currently leads all of Ligue 1 in goal contributions with 22.
PSG manager Christophe Galtier will at the least be able to count on Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe against Montpellier. The two star forwards were included in PSG’s squad list for Ligue 1 matchday 21.
PSG currently holds the top spot in the Ligue 1 standings with 48 points through 20 matches played.
