Paris Saint-Germain owners Qatar Sports Investments is reportedly considering purchasing a minority stake into a Premier League club. However, as of now, there’s no specific club they’re looking at the moment.
Recent reports would suggest that the targeted club is Tottenham Hotspur. Nonetheless, The Athletic reported on Monday, citing sources close to QSI, that PSG’s ownership group is interested in Manchester United.
However, the reporting doesn’t reveal whether talks within the group are for a minority stake or become full majority owners. If QSI wants to buy Manchester United outright, then it would require QSI to cash in extremely quickly on PSG.
Attempting to sell a club like PSG while also buying The Red Devils seems improbable, as QSI insists it is committed to the French giants.
QSI has had exploratory internal conversations about Manchester United, as well as with third-party advisors. Still, for now, the report insists that PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has not met with Raine or the Manchester United owners, the Glazer family.
But Qatar has a watching brief on the circumstances at Manchester United regarding a possible sale, though it was described to The Athletic as an “evolving situation.”
