Navas has been relegated to the backup role this 2022-23 football season as manager Christophe Galtier opted to go with Gianluigi Donnarumma.
After splitting time between the two players last season, the French tactician wanted to avoid that trend and chose a No. 1 goalkeeper, which is why he picked the Italian.
The three-time UEFA Champions League winner has now only appeared in Coupe de France, friendly and FIFA World Cup matches this season, which is why Navas welcomes a move to Forest, where he’ll be the starter for the time being.
Forest starting goalkeeper Dean Henderson having suffered a thigh strain in the Jan. 14 win over Leicester City and is likely to be ruled out until late February. Navas will help The Reds fight to remain in the Premier League for next season.
