The January transfer window is open, so various rumors are running wild. One of them is linking FC Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembélé to Paris Saint-Germain; however, don’t expect this gossip to turn into reality.
Dembélé recently signed a contract extension keeping him with the Spanish club until 2024, but rumors in Spain have the talented winger possibly going to PSG. Nonetheless, the French forward has no intention of leaving.
“Four months ago, I signed a new contract with FC Barcelona,” Dembélé told Eleven Sports (h/t Foot Mercato) about any rumors linking him to PSG. And then, I’m happy here. We will continue to work with Barça.
“If the Eiffel Tower interests me? No, I’m fine in Barcelona. There’s a good living environment; I’m also fine with the coach. I have the confidence of the coach but also of the leaders. When you have all that confidence … I feel good and happy.”
A move for Dembélé doesn’t seem necessary, considering the French giants already have Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. occupying those wing positions. Furthermore, if the capital club were to add a forward, it would be a striker.
During last summer’s transfer window, sporting advisor Luis Campos purchased Hugo Ekitike from Stade de Reims. While the 20-year-old has slowly found his way into the squad, he has scored two goals in his last three games.
The Portuguese club chief will likely bring a player that challenges Ekitike for minutes as a striker, not on the wing barring any wild exit.
