The UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich is now mere weeks away. PSG will host the first leg of the tie on Feb. 14.
Bayern Munich will return to action on Friday with an away Bundesliga matchup against RB Leipzig. Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann (via L’Equipe) is not only looking ahead to his team’s upcoming clash with RB Leipzig but also to the tie against PSG.
“We are already talking briefly about the fact that we have a big task ahead of us, that the way to get there can also partly condition our behavior against Paris,” Nagelsmann said during a press conference on Wednesday. “As far as mental stability and, of course, content are concerned, if we apply it well in the Bundesliga, we will also be armed for this high-level duel.
“In principle, it will be an even match and the form of the day will be a bit decisive.”
Bayern Munich has six matches on its schedule before the tie against PSG, including five league contests. The reigning Bundesliga champions currently hold the top spot in the league standings with 34 points through 15 matches played.
On the other hand, Nagelsmann may be keeping a close watch on PSG’s upcoming fixtures. The Ligue 1 powerhouse has five contests on its schedule ahead of the clash with the Bundesliga side, including a key showdown with AS Monaco.
PSG’s next official match will come next week with a Coupe de France round of 32 encounter against Pays de Cassel.
