Galtier Answers Whether Messi, Neymar and Mbappe Will Play in PSG’s Coupe de France Round of 32 Fixture

Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe have not started in an official match together since Paris Saint-Germain’s 5-0 win over AJ Auxerre in November. PSG manager Christophe Galtier has mixed up the team’s attacking rotations in its last five fixtures, including in the recent 1-0 loss to Rennes. Messi, Neymar, and Hugo Ekitike were called on to lead PSG’s attack against Rennes.

During a press conference on Saturday ahead of PSG’s upcoming Coupe de France round of 32 clash against Pays de Cassel, Galtier was asked whether Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe will all feature in the contest. The first-year PSG coach shied away from revealing his exact starting 11 plans for the French cup fixture, although he did note that he will field the best team possible for the matchup.

“The best team will be aligned on Monday in the French Cup,” Galtier said. “There is no reason at this time of the season when the weeks are very light to make some turnovers because we want to find rhythm, intensity, and automatisms. It would even be stupid.

“So we will have a very competitive team and very close to what it can be in the championship.”

Galtier further noted that goalkeeper Keylor Navas will play on Monday.

Overall, PSG has five matches on its schedule before its UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg showdown against Bayern Munich.
