Fabian Ruiz Shares Strong Words on Messi After the PSG Forward’s Return Performance vs. Angers

Lionel Messi returned to Ligue 1 action on Wednesday, as he helped Paris Saint-Germain clinch a 2-0 win over Angers.

Messi’s appearance against Angers was his first in-game action since the 2022 FIFA World Cup Final. The Argentine forward made his return to the club last week, and he was a regular in collective training ahead of Ligue 1 matchday 18.

Overall, Messi scored one goal and also created one goal-scoring chance during his 90 minutes of playing time against Angers.

PSG midfielder Fabian Ruiz earned a start in manager Christophe Galtier’s double-pivot setup in the match, and as he told Canal+ after the side’s 15th league win of the season, he continues to be left in awe of the Argentine forward.

“Everyone knows what Leo is capable of,” Ruiz said. “He scored and we are very happy for him. We congratulate him for winning the World Cup. He deserves it. Now we have to enjoy him on the field.

“It is a privilege to see him every day. I think all the players are happy for him and for us.”

Next up for PSG will be a Ligue 1 away fixture against Rennes.
