The January transfer window closes on Tuesday and clubs are moving quickly to secure deals that will help them in the second half of the 2022-23 football season.
Celta Vigo is one of the clubs hoping for reinforcements as they fight to stay out of the relegation zone. However, striker Iago Aspas joked that he hopes the Spanish club can bring a Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo after Celta’s 1-0 victory over Athletic Club on Sunday at the Estadio de Balaídos.
“Well, we’ve got some big rivals coming up, but there are some days left of the transfer market,” Aspas told DAZN. “Maybe we’ll get some reinforcements because we have a very small squad if nobody comes. Well, we have to try to keep going as we are. We’re all together and we’ll take this situation forward.
“If it were up to me, then Messi and Ronaldo, we sign before the deadline closes. But I know that the club are trying to bring in another teammate to help us, and if someone comes in, then it will be very welcomed.”

Aspas might not be getting Messi or Ronaldo, but the squad likely hopes the management side can reinforce the team to ensure they’re playing in LaLiga for the 2023-24 season.
