Canadian Duo Should Be On PSG’s Summer Transfer Radar

When you examine Paris Saint-Germain’s star-studded squad, you’ll see players from South America, Europe, and Africa. One country that you won’t find represented in the dressing room is Canada.

Relatively new to the world stage, Canada was one of the popular picks to advance to the knockout stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. While that dream didn’t come to fruition, several Canadian players should be on PSG’s radar in the upcoming transfer window.

The two players that many Canadian casinos would pick as the betting favorite to be on the move this summer include Alphonso Davies and Jonathan David. Sites like would likely put the best odds on David being the first to be transferred and PSG could be the perfect fit.

David is a goal-scoring machine at Lille OSC and he appears to be ready for a new challenge. That challenge could come by way of the Premier League, which is thought to be his preferred destination, but could the allure of playing alongside Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, and Neymar Jr. entice him to the French capital?

PSG is in desperate need of a pure goalscorer. The last time they had that was the first season with Mauro Icardi and one season with Moise Kean. Since then, PSG has brought in a lot of creative players, but they don’t have an Erling Haaland-type player who can score from nothing.

While David would secure up the scoring end of things, Davies would fill a need for PSG on the left flank. He’s capable of playing left back, left midfield, or left winger, which are all three positions PSG could use help with. Nuno Mendes currently plays left-back for PSG, but he’s been sidelined with injuries this season. Davies could provide backup help as well as play in front of Mendes to create potentially the fastest left flank in world football.

Both players won’t come cheap. Davies is under contract at FC Bayern Munich until 2025 and Transfermarkt puts his transfer value at €70 million. David is also under contract until 2025 and his transfer fee will be around €45 million. Financial Fair Play is a concern for PSG, so depending on sales this summer, the capital club may have to prioritize one player over the other.

For me, David should be the priority. He has experience playing in Ligue 1 and PSG needs a true striker. Davies would be a luxury signing, but if Juan Bernat isn’t up to the level that PSG needs, the Canadian might be worth splashing the cash for.
