Despite adding Hugo Ekitike this past summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain could still be in the market for improving their forward group after the 2022-23 season.
While PSG also has Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, who appears ready to extend his contract, and Neymar Jr., two of those players are in their 30s, so the French giants need to be smart with how they use them going forward.
As a result, they’re in on names such as Joao Felix and now it appears Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli is on the list of targets. Media Foot reported on Wednesday that PSG had held discussions with Martinelli’s representatives.
The French outlet states that exchanges look like the first “negotiations.” The ambition to find contractual common ground is there. If there is a next step, it will be with Arsenal for the transfer amount.
Martinelli’s contract expires in 2024, so these reported discussions with PSG could also be a way of putting pressure on The Gunners to get a deal done in the coming months.
