Lionel Messi has bounced back this 2022-23 football season for Paris Saint-Germain after a challenging first year in the French capital. Furthermore, Neymar Jr. is also playing some of the best football of his career.
Both wanted to begin this season on a positive note to prepare for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, with Messi coming away with the trophy. The two PSG stars have been the best players in Europe’s top five leagues, as OptaJavier pointed out on Twitter.
The stats account noted that Messi and Neymar are the top two South American players with the most direct participation in goals. The Brazilian is in first place with 34, but the Argentine isn’t too far behind with 32.

After the two players, there’s a gap between Messi and the next player, Real Madrid’s Vini Jr., who has 22 direct participation in goals. Nevertheless, PSG hopes its two star forwards continue to produce at a high level in the second half of the season as PSG eyes winning the UEFA Champions League.
