Brazil was one of the 2022 FIFA World Cup disappointments as the South American nation was the favorite to win the tournament but crashed out in the quarterfinals against Croatia.
The loss doesn’t feel much better for the Brazilians, considering Argentina made easy work of Croatia in the semifinals. Nonetheless, Neymar Jr. should hold his head high since he scored the lone goal for Brazil against Croatia.
Neymar is 30 and will be 34 years old when the 2026 World Cup in North America (Canada, Mexico, and United States) and the young players on the current team want to see the Paris Saint-Germain star return.
GOAL reported on Monday that several players want to see him continue the adventure with them with Brazil, among them: Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, Raphinha, Lucas Paquetá, Antony and Richarlison.
These players are part of the list of those who asked the idol to continue being at Brazil’s disposal and will likely be vital candidates for the team that will be playing in 2026.
Furthermore, the reporting states Neymar’s idea initially was to take a break from the national team, especially if the first games are friendly matches. However, the PSG star does not want to leave the Seleção.
Neymar’s future and the schedule he wants to adopt will also be the subject of a conversation with the new coach of the Brazilian national team. The new coach, who is expected to be announced in January, will be tasked with defining Neymar’s next steps.
