Multiple players are enjoying a standout run at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, including Kylian Mbappe, who has impressed former Brazil national team star Ronaldo.
Mbappe has emerged as the France national team’s most reliable attacking player at the World Cup. The Paris Saint-Germain star leads France in total goal contributions at this year’s edition of the sport’s biggest tournament with seven, including the two goals that he scored in the round of 16 victory over Poland.
Ronaldo has been closely watching this World Cup, and he has been left in awe of Mbappe’s play for Les Bleus.
“I can talk about how fast he is, how good he is and he reminded me of when I played,” Ronaldo said during a press conference on Monday. “He knows how to use his ability, how to go faster than the other players and use that ability to assist or score.
“I think France is the favorite team now to win the World Cup. I said that before the World Cup starts and, for me, Mbappe is going to be the best player at this World Cup.”
Mbappe and France are a win away from clinching a spot in the World Cup final, although Morocco stands in their way of accomplishing this historic feat.
