Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe helped seal the game for France in their 3-1 Round of 16 win against Poland on Sunday at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Les Bleus were up 1-0 when the 23-year-old scored his brace in the second half and provided the security to get through to the quarterfinals over the Polish side, who did score late.
Barcelona and France defender Jules Kounde spoke with Spanish media outlet Cope, where he kept it simple when summing up the performance by Mbappe against Poland.
“I think he’s a great player, we know it and he shows it every time,” Kounde said. “Today, it was two great goals, but it’s a group effort.”
France and Mbappe are two wins away from reaching the World Cup final and winning back-to-back trophies. However, before they get to that point, the next opponent in their way from doing so will be England or Senegal.
There’s no doubt some in the football world will be rooting for a matchup against the Three Lions as it will allow Mbappe to quiet any agenda again that he cannot play against the “physicality” of English football.
