The stage is now set for Paris Saint-Germain teammates Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe will face off in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final.
Argentina came off a convincing 3-0 win over Croatia to punch their ticket to the final; meanwhile, France had a contested matchup against Morocco, winning 2-0, but had to fend off the African nation’s attack.
Nonetheless, it’s the matchup many football fans wanted to see when the semifinals began as it sees Messi, who is attempting to win his first-ever World Cup and Mbappe has his eyes on winning back-to-back trophies.
Over the next few days, there will be discussions about who’s the best player on the planet, but for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, there’s no debate; Mbappe is the best player in his eyes.
“For me, Mbappé is the best in the world; he is above all,” Tchouameni told Ole. “But they are two really incredible players. But on Sunday it’s a final between 22. What they do will be important, but it can’t be taken only to the confrontation between them.”
Whoever comes away victorious on Sunday will undoubtedly also hold the title of being the best player on the planet, considering what a World Cup trophy will do for each player’s resume.
