After Argentina defeated the Netherlands in penalty kicks to advance to the semifinals, the tense matchup between the two nations didn’t stop at the final whistle as Lionel Messi had two postgame spats.
The 35-year-old first had a tense exchange with Louis van Gaal and his coaching staff. Then during a postgame interview, Messi was in another tense confrontation with Dutch striker Wout Weghorst.
Messi referred to Weghorst as a “bobo,” meaning fool or idiot. The remarks made by the Paris Saint-Germain star have gone viral that even his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, was seen having fun with her husband’s insult.
