The 2022 FIFA World Cup final is set as Argentina with Lionel Messi will face off against Kylian Mbappe and France on Sunday.
Messi will be searching for his World Cup, which has been the trophy that has long eluded him in his career. Meanwhile, on the other side, Mbappe eyes winning back-to-back trophies before the age of 24.
Ahead of the matchup, France international and Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann acknowledged that the final against the South American side would be different than what Les Bleus have faced in the knockout stages.
Griezmann noted that Argentina having Messi in their starting eleven brings a different opponent that will provide complications during the 90 minutes.
“With Leo in the rival team, it’s always different,” Griezmann said (h/t Marca). “We’ve seen all of Argentina’s games, it’s a difficult team, in top form and it also has a lot of serenity in its group, like us.
“It won’t be an easy game; we’re going to have to make an effort. Starting tomorrow, we’re going to try to analyze them and see the best way to deal with them.”
The Atletico Madrid star notes that the Morocco game was a wake-up to the France national team as the African side caught them off guard with how they approached the matchup.
Against Argentina, France knows they will take advantage of scoring opportunities that Morocco failed to put away.
“The Moroccans have impressed me with their collective offensive and defensive work,” Griezmann said.
“After the break, they have generated a lot for us. Luckily the coach has noticed and has put Marcus Thuram on the wing to help Theo, who was creating a lot of problems for him.”
