2022 World Cup: AC Milan Legend Explains Why Messi ‘Deserves’ to Win World Cup

Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi sits one win away from winning the trophy that has long eluded him his entire career, the FIFA World Cup.

Standing in Messi’s way of securing the trophy is his PSG teammate, Kylian Mbappe and France, who will be attempting to make history of being the first nation since 1962 to win back-to-back World Cups.

The Argentine winning adds to the veteran forward’s legacy, as the trophy would put him ahead of the best players to play the game. As a result, some former footballers like Clarence Seedorf want to see the PSG star win on Sunday.

“It’s a great duel, two really very good teams. Messi deserves it for everything he has given for football. But clearly, you have to play the games […] I want a final with a goal from Messi, one from Mbappé but I’m going for Argentina. Let them win 2-1,” Seedorf told Ole (h/t Marca).

While not having a World Cup won’t hinder what Messi has done in his career as one of the best to lace up a pair of boots. But to be in the same category as Pele and Diego Maradona, those two won the ultimate prize in international football during their careers.
