Paris Saint-Germain has hit the 2022 FIFA World Cup break and while some players go off to represent their respective national teams, sporting advisor Luis Campos will look at ways to improve the squad.
When club football picks up again, the January transfer window will be right around the corner and one of the names connected to PSG is Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix.
Felix has struggled this 2022-23 season, scoring four goals in 18 appearances for the Spanish club while averaging 43 minutes per game in La Liga competition.
Should PSG land the 23-year-old in January, Didier Roustan says it benefits the capital club’s attacking trio of Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Neymar Jr.
“I take him because he is already a good player and he is restricted at Atletico,” Roustan said recently on L’Equipe du Soir (h/t Canal Supporters). He has qualities. I think he can play a little lower or even up front and he may be the player who can fix Mbappé. Anyway, you have uncertainties about Messi and Neymar. He may not start, but he is a player who can come in when Messi or Neymar are not well.
“And then it could also be the future because he is still very young and Mbappé will not stay very long if I understood correctly. Messi (35) and Neymar (30) are still at the end. He is a player who is spectacular and who can bring something. So for me, I agree if it’s a loan. Afterward, if you have to take out 110M€, I think you could put them elsewhere. But in the form of a loan, I say yes (…) Ekitike is a good player, but we can see that he will be soft this season.”
Atletico Madrid invested a lot of money when acquiring the Portugal international, as they spent €126 million to land the forward from Benfica. As a result, the La Liga side will attempt to secure their initial investment on any transfer that sees Felix exit.
