The France national team was dealt a blow when Karim Benzema announced that he could not suit up for the 2022 FIFA World Cup after suffering an injury to his left thigh during training.
Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe now has to be one of the leaders on attack alongside veteran goal scorer Olivier Giroud. Ahead of France’s matchup against Australia on Tuesday, Tottenham Hotspur and French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris fully trust the 23-year-old star.
“He has confirmed all the hopes placed in him in recent years. It is difficult to define his limits,” Lloris told reporters.
Mbappe will have to play a leadership with so many injuries that France has been dealt with leading into the World Cup. Nevertheless, the opportunity is there for the PSG star to not only lift his country with goals but lead them to back-to-back trophies.
