The France national team punched its ticket to the 2022 FIFA World Cup knockout stage following its 2-1 group stage win over Denmark.
Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe led France’s attack against Denmark. He not only scored a pair of goals in the match, but he also played the role of a playmaker with three goal-scoring chances created for teammates.
Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, who tagged along with Adrien Rabiot in France’s double-pivot midfield setup in the contest, was not at all surprised by Mbappe’s world-class outing on the day. When asked during his post-match press conference (via L’Equipe) whether he continues to be impressed by Mbappe’s stout performances, Tchouameni took some time to laud the PSG star.
“Yes and no because we are getting used to it, we follow him every weekend, we know what he is capable of,” Tchouameni said.
“It’s really good to have him with us at this level.”
Mbappe has now recorded four goal contributions to go along with a 3.0 key passes per match average in the World Cup.
France will now turn its attention to its World Cup group stage finale against Tunisia on Wednesday.
