Neymar Jr. will miss the remainder of the group stage after suffering an ankle injury in Brazil’s 2-0 win over Serbia on Thursday. The South American nation faces Switzerland and Cameroon without their superstar.
However, there are some Brazilians who believe that the national team is better off without Neymar, going as far as to celebrate the injury.
The celebration of being without the Paris Saint-Germain forward left Manchester United’s Casemiro stunned when asked about his reaction during his press conference with the media.
“It’s a shame, but there are people in the world who wish evil on someone else,” Casemiro told reporters (h/t Marca). “I feel sorry for him. We are all people. When you wish something bad for someone else it is serious. Neymar is a person who helps others a lot, who has a very big heart. Neymar does not deserve this.
“He is an exceptional player, one of the best in the world. I have the privilege of playing with him here. He won’t be able to play the next game, unfortunately, and losing a player like that is difficult. It’s up to Tite to find a replacement.”
