Hugo Ekitike Analyzes Assist on Neymar Goal in PSG’s Win Over FC Lorient

When Lionel Messi couldn’t go for Paris Saint-Germain’s matchup against FC Lorient on Sunday at the Stade du Moustoir, Hugo Ekitike made it into the starting eleven for the French giants.

The 20-year-old had an opportunity for starting minutes to impress and although the France international didn’t score, Ekitike did provide an assist on Neymar Jr.’s opening goal.

After Neymar generated the turnover, the ball landed at the young striker’s feet, and rather than take a shot, he opted to pass, and the Brazilian found the back of the net.

Following the victory, Ekitike spoke with Prime Sport Video France and one of the postgame interview questions that the young forward answered was about his assist on the Neymar goal.

“There was a rush,” Ekitike said. “Afterwards, as I say, the main thing for an attacker is to create the chances. Lately, I’ve been creating them more. There, it comes back more and more. When it comes back, there will be plenty, I hope.”

Ekitike is still searching for his first goal with PSG. Still, the assist should be a confidence booster as the former Stade de Reims striker continues to fit into the squad and develop chemistry with the attacking trio of Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Neymar.
