Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is going at an outrageous rate as the Norway international has 17 goals through 11 appearances in all competitions. Manager Pep Guardiola has seen this type of production before, so it isn’t new territory.
During his time at FC Barcelona, Guardiola had Lionel Messi terrorizing La Liga defenses in his prime years. After Manchester City defeated Manchester United 6-3 with a hat-trick from Haaland, the Spanish tactician explained the key differences between the two players.
“Yeah, definitely, Erling needs maybe all his mates [to score goals], you know, to do it when we when arrived there; that is unbelievable,” Guardiola told Sky Sports after the win (h/t VarskySports). “Messi had the ability for himself to do it.”
