Spanish Journalist Explains Why Manchester City Favorite Over PSG to Win Champions League

The UEFA Champions League group stage is ending, and the teams that have qualified for the knockout rounds are nearly set. Paris Saint-Germain has punched their ticket behind Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar.

Despite having Europe’s most threatening attack, Spanish journalist Julio Maldonado doesn’t believe that the French giants are a threat to winning the trophy due to a weakness in the starting eleven.

As a result, Maldonado has Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City as the team to beat in the knockout phase; considering Erling Haaland’s tear in the Premier League and his games in the UEFA Champions League; it comes as no surprise.

“There is no better attack in the world than PSG at the level that Messi, Neymar and Mbappe are at,” Maldonado tweeted on Sunday

“But Galtier has not yet solved the problems behind. They come easy to him and he defends only regulating the stopped ball. If that improves, a great favorite for the Champions together with Manchester City.”

Sporting advisor Luis Campos will have the January window to make any changes to the PSG squad, mainly the center-back position, which was a position the club chief wanted to upgrade this summer but failed to land Inter Milan’s Milan Škriniar.

If Campos can address the squad’s needs, then the tone around PSG might change.
