Report Reveals Why Neymar Was Unable to Vote for Jair Bolsonaro

Brazilians are heading to the polls on Sunday as elections are taking place in the South American country. However, one of them that couldn’t vote is Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar Jr.

The 30-year-old recently generated controversy by publicly supporting the country’s current right-wing president Jair Bolsonaro. Nevertheless, Spanish media outlet El Mundo reports that the forward could not vote for Bolsonaro.

Neymar has reportedly forgotten to transfer his elector title to Paris as the PSG forward’s polling station is still located in São Paulo.

The only way for Neymar to seal his support for Bolsonaro would have been to go on a twelve-hour flight to Brazil and then head back to France and prepare for PSG’s UEFA Champions League matchup against Benfica on Wednesday at the Estádio da Luz.

Despite publicly supporting Bolsonaro, UOL (h/t RMC Sport) reports that Neymar is likely part of the 80 percent of Brazilian players abroad that don’t vote in the country’s elections.

Nonetheless, the video supporting Bolsonaro does help the campaign, as Neymar has a large following on all social media platforms; whether that’s enough to beat out Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva remains to be seen.
