Report: PSG Star’s Camp Smash Rumors Over Possible Return to Barcelona

The future of Lionel Messi continues to be a topic of discussion as the 35-year-old’s contract expires in June 2023. On Tuesday, reports in Spain surfaced revealing that the veteran forward would be returning to FC Barcelona.

However, TyC Sports’ Gastón Edul debunked those rumors for the time being, stating that Messi’s entourage has denied an agreement with the Spanish club.

“From Leo Messi’s camp, they deny an agreement with Barcelona,” Edul tweeted on Tuesday. “The information came from the club. Messi thinks about his year ahead in PSG (Champions League) and the World Cup. PSG is going to insist a lot with his renewal.”

Messi isn’t thinking about where he will play next season, considering the 2022 FIFA World Cup is coming up in late November, and the Argentine wants to help PSG win the club’s first UEFA Champions League this season.

Once the World Cup concludes, then Messi is likely to weigh his options, but it wouldn’t come as a surprise if he opts to wait until after PSG’s Champions League run ends so as not to be a distraction.

Nonetheless, that will not stop various outlets and reporters from sharing any information regarding Messi’s future, whether it’s accurate or not.
