Lionel Messi is back to his usual self this season, as the 35-year-old has recorded 11 goals and 12 assists in all competitions for Paris Saint-Germain.

Additionally, Messi has connected with Kylian Mbappe as the two have seen their chemistry flourish this 2022-23 season. Meanwhile, the Argentine has picked off where he left off with Neymar during their time at Barcelona.

With Messi performing as many expect, PSG is beginning talks with the veteran forward to remain in the French capital past 2023 when his contract expires in June.

Spanish media outlet Sport recently reported that PSG should shortly start talks to extend Messi and are prepared to offer him a two-year contract which would expire when he’s 38. Furthermore, the reported proposal would come with a salary increase.

Messi appears happy in Paris now that his family has adapted to the move from Barcelona, and on the field, he’s playing at a high level once again. It will be interesting to see if this is enough for him to remain for two more seasons at PSG since he wouldn’t have to move his family again.
