PSG Loanee Explains Decision to Leave French Capital for Sunderland

Paris Saint-Germain loanee Edouard Michut opted to do what many players have come up with through the capital club’s youth academy, search for greener pastures elsewhere.

This past summer transfer window, the 19-year-old decided it was time to leave his boyhood club and head to the Championship, England’s second division, and join Sunderland FC on loan with an option to buy.

As part of Téléfoot’s new program that will follow various youngsters throughout the season, with Michut being one of them, the midfielder explained his decision to leave PSG.

“My departure from PSG? I needed a new challenge and to thrive as much as possible by having playing time,” Michut told the French media outlet.

Michut has yet to have much success off the bat with Sunderland this 2022-23 Championship season. The midfielder has only appeared in one game out of a possible six matches and has 14 minutes under his belt.

It will be interesting to see if Michut made the right decision to head to the Championship rather than remain at PSG or jump on another offer that will allow him to further his development.
