Manchester United’s Big Money Signing Has Neymar Come to Defense After Showboating Criticism

Antony was Manchester United‘s big-money acquisition this past summer transfer window following former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag to Old Trafford.

Nonetheless, the Brazilian flare, as some may call out, is putting Antony in hot water, as some label his tricks as showboating.

On Thursday, the 22-year-old produced one incredible 720-degree spin with the ball seemingly glued to his left foot during the UEFA Europa League tie.

While Antony has dealt with criticism, Neymar Jr. isn’t one of them and wants his fellow countryman to continue playing with the flair that Brazilians are known for having.

“Keep going, don’t change anything! Up kid, boldness and joy,” Neymar wrote in the Instagram story (h/t RMC Sport).

Despite Neymar defending the Manchester United star forward and even Antony saying that there will be no changes to the way he plays the game of football ten Hag did state that he would be talking with the player over the issue.

“I demand more from him — more runs behind, more often in the box and more playing in the pocket,” ten Hag said. “When there is a trick like that, it’s nice as long as it’s functional. If you’re not losing the ball, then it’s OK — but if it’s a trick because of a trick, then I will correct him.”
