French Press Delievers Lionel Messi Injury Update Ahead of Benfica Matchup

Lionel Messi gave Argentina and Paris Saint-Germain a scare when the 35-year-old exited the 1-1 draw match against Benfica on Wednesday at the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica.

Messi didn’t play in the 0-0 draw against Stade de Reims on Saturday after reportedly suffering a calf injury. Ahead of the return matchup versus Benfica on Tuesday at the Parce des Princes, the question is, will the Argentine forward be ready?

On Sunday, French media outlet Le Parisien reported that Messi resumed racing and will practice on Monday.

Furthermore, The Parisian staff was firmly optimistic about the veteran forward’s state of health, and the chances of having him in the group against Benfica are good.

Messi will likely be a game-time decision on whether he can start or need to be limited to a certain amount of minutes.

Regarding the rest of the team, PSG The should have no other surprises, except for the start of Juan Bernat replacing Nuno Mendes, who injured his hamstring on the left side of the defense.
