Paris Saint-Germain saw the connection between Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi on full display in the 3-0 win over AC Ajaccio on Friday at the Estadio François-Coty.
Messi assisted on the two Mbappe goals, and then the 35-year-old beautifully scored one of his own. The relationship the two players have on the pitch is the deadliest in Europe’s top five leagues.
Following the win, Gianluigi Donnarumma spoke with Prime Video Sport France (h/t Canal Supporters), where the PSG goalkeeper was asked to sum up what he saw from the duo.
“Messi and Mbappe? It’s beautiful,” Donnarumma said. “[On Friday], we had an incredible game. We played very well; it was important to follow up with a victory after last week’s success. We prepared very well for the Champions League.”
If PSG is going to come away with the UEFA Champions League this season, the capital club will need all their superstars to perform at their best.
The French giants could lean upon the chemistry between Mbappe and Messi in a deep run in the tournament, and they may be the key to the club lifting their first-ever Champions League trophy by the end of the 2022-23 season.
