Danilo Pereira Analyzes the Key Reims Tactic That Made Life Difficult for Mbappe, PSG’s Attack

Paris Saint-Germain failed to find the back of the net on Ligue 1 matchday 10, as it came away with a scoreless draw result against Reims.

The match was marred by the red card that Sergio Ramos earned during the first half, but even up to that point in the contest, Reims was putting up quite a good fight against PSG.

For Danilo Pereira, this fixture was a tactical chess match. PSG aimed to combat Reims’ man-to-man marking system, but Ramos’ early exit in the contest made it even more of an arduous task for the reigning Ligue 1 champions to do so.

“We faced a very aggressive team that played man-to-man,” Pereira told Canal Plus (via L’Equipe) after the match.

“We tried to get out of their individual marking. But the red that Sergio Ramos took made things more complicated. We kept trying to score a goal, but there are days like that.”

PSG finished with a mere three total shots on target in the contest. On the other hand, Reims took full advantage of being a man-up in the second half, as it tallied 13 total shots in the final 45 minutes of the match.

Next up for PSG will be its UEFA Champions League home clash against Benfica on Tuesday.
