The UEFA Champions League kicks off on Tuesday with Matchday 1, and clubs like Paris Saint-Germain believe the changes made this summer and having Lionel Messi for another season is enough to lift the trophy.
Former Manchester City star Sergio Agüero believes that this is the season that the capital club will lift the Champions League trophy that they have longed craved since the arrival of Qatar Sports Investment.
“We know his competitive spirit. And even more, if he is with great players like Kylian Mbappé and Neymar. And PSG has already gained a lot of experience in Europe.”
PSG has been knocking on the door recently, reaching the 2020 final but losing to Bayern Munich and getting to the 2021 semifinals but falling to Manchester City.
This summer, the capital club drastically changed its sporting and managerial positions, with Luis Campos taking over for Leonardo. As a result, the Portuguese had a summer to mold PSG into a team and not one only filled with stars.
Campos appointed Christophe Galtier to the manager position as the two worked together at Lille OSC. The Ligue 1 side hopes these changes and additions are enough to see them come out on top this season in the Champions League.
