Report Reveals PSG’s Timeline for Contract Extension Talks With Ramos

Paris Saint-Germain center-back Sergio Ramos has gone from being labeled as a transfer bust to now being one of the more reliable defenders in Ligue 1. Thus, this has prompted PSG club officials to have a change of plans for the Spanish defender’s future at the club.

As noted by the Spanish-based outlet Mundo Deportivo, PSG is much open to jumpstarting contract extension talks with Ramos, who is set to become a free agent next year. However, such discussions between the two sides may not begin until 2023.

PSG football advisor Luis Campos did recently note to RMC Sport that taking into account just how Ramos has opened up the new season, he does not rule out the possibility of signing him to a new deal. Ramos joined PSG during the 2021 summer transfer window, where he signed off on a two-year free transfer deal.

After an injury-marred campaign last season, Ramos continues to turn back the clock with keen performances in all competitions this year. For one, he currently sits at eight appearances in Ligue 1 play this season to go along with a 1.4 interceptions per game average.

Ramos and PSG will return to action on Oct. 1 with a Ligue 1 home fixture against OGC Nice.
