Report: Ligue 1 Club Targeting Former PSG Manager to Takeover

Former Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino has been out of a job since July when the capital club sacked the Argentine to hire their current boss, Christophe Galtier.

Pochettino is playing the waiting game to see where his next managerial position will be and it appears it could be staying in Ligue 1. On Tuesday, French media outlet Foot Mercato reported that OGC Nice has started to sound out the coaching market.

Nice is currently in 13th place with eight points. As a result, the French side is eyeing Pochettino as a meeting will take place Tuesday between the 50-year-old manager and Nice’s management.

Additionally, Nice would even be able to meet the financial requirements of the Argentine tactician. The staggering salary that Pochettino received at PSG would, therefore, not be an obstacle to negotiations between the two parties.

Managing Nice would be a perfect situation to rehab Pochettino’s image after failing at PSG as the club doesn’t present much pressure. If he succeeds there, he can parlay it into a job at a bigger club whether it be in La Liga or the Premier League.

Whether it’s Pochettino or another manager, it appears the days are numbered for current Nice boss Lucien Favre, who has delivered underperforming results this 2022-23 Ligue 1 season.
