Former Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino didn’t find a new job this summer after exiting the French capital. Nonetheless, the Argentine tactician might not be out of a job for too long.
Spanish publication Estadio Deportivo (h/t TyC Sports) reports that Sevilla’s poor start to the 2022-23 La Liga season that sees them have one point after four matches could result in changes.
The reporting states that if Sevilla were to sack current manager Julen Lopetegui, the top candidate that would replace him would be Pochettino. Sevilla is the type of club that is the right fit for the 50-year-old, where there’s no pressure to win everything like at PSG.
Additionally, Pochettino would walk into a dressing room with plenty of Argentines with Alejandro “Papu” Gómez, Marcos Acuña, Gonzalo Montiel, and Erik Lamela on the squad. Then there’s the experience of having coach in La Liga during his time with RCD Espanyol de Barcelona.
Pochettino will be on the look out for jobs such as the Sevilla one as he looks to jump in if a club wants to make a change to salvage whatever they can from their season.
