Midfield Rebuilt Continues? PSG Reportedly Eyeing Sporting’s €60M Talent

This past summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain revamped their midfield with sporting advisor Luis Campos bringing four new players to the group. However, the Portuguese executive might not be done fixing the unit.

A report out of Portugal from A Bola reveals that PSG is in the mix to land Sporting midfielder Manuel Ugarte. The 21-year-old has been a critical figure for the Lisbon-based club.

Ugarte has made nine total appearances this season for Sporting playing in the defensive midfield role, a type of player the PSG lacks in terms of the players they currently have in the squad.

When it comes to the cost, the Portuguese side isn’t going to let the young midfielder leave the club as the reporting suggests that Sporting wants a fee close to the €60 million release clause on Ugarte’s contract.

As a result, the information states that Sporting will not discuss a deal for the Uruguay international for anything less than €40 million and with the player having a contract until 2026, the club has the leverage in its asking price.
