Galtier Reacts to Neymar’s Dominant Start to the Ligue 1 Season

Paris Saint-Germain did not orchestrate a convincing performance in its 1-0 win over Brest on Ligue 1 matchday seven. However, Neymar did once again shine in a league matchup.

Neymar scored a goal and created two goal-scoring chances for teammates during his time on the pitch in the contest. The goal for Neymar was the 110th of his career at PSG, which moved him past Pauleta for sole possession of fourth place on the most goals in club history list.

Following PSG’s win over Brest, manager Christophe Galtier took some time to react to Neymar’s promising start to the season, where he noted that he has been impressed with the forward’s commitment to the team.

“I have always considered him to be one of the best players on the planet,” Galtier said. “But I have a much more informed and sharpened eye on his daily investment. Before, during and after training sessions. If he has just overtaken Pauleta and is having a very good start to the season, it is because he puts a lot of seriousness and concentration into his work.

“He is very invested on a personal level but also in the interest of the team. He is a great professional and a great player. I discover him with pleasure every day.”

Overall, Neymar sits at 14 total goal contributions in Ligue 1 play this season, with eight goals and six assists. This sure is just the start that PSG needed from the Brazilian forward at this early stage in the campaign.
