Paris Saint-Germain has seen various youth academy players exit the French capital in search of more playing time to progress their careers. It’s been a mix of failure and success for Tanguy Kouassi; the jury is still out whether it was the right move.
Kouassi left PSG for Bayern Munich, where he could never find his place with the German giants. This summer, the 20-year-old went to Sevilla FC for €20 million and now looks to kickstart his career.
The France international spoke with the French publication L’Equipe, stating that there are no regrets over his decision to leave the capital club for Bayern Munich in 2020.
“I had no regrets,” Kouassi said. “If I have regrets, it means that at the time, I was not 100% sure of my choice. It wasn’t, I was sure. My choices, I assume them.
“What led me to this decision? This is the project. The Bayern project won me over. I understand the people who criticize me, but they don’t have the elements, the discussions that I had with Bayern.”
At Sevilla, Kouassi must prove that his story will be similar to Christopher Nkunku, Moussa Diaby, and Xavi Simons, who have found success leaving PSG at a young age. If not he could fall into the category of players who left but couldn’t find greener pastures.
