Antoine Kombouaré Expects Nantes to Show ‘Different Face’ Against PSG

FC Nantes will attempt to learn from their mistakes in the Trophée des Champions when they fell 4-0 to Paris Saint-Germain. The two will meet at the Stade de la Beaujoire for a Saturday matchup.

Nantes currently sits tenth in Ligue 1 with one victory in the first five fixtures of the 2022-23 season. As a result, there’s a challenging task for the Canaries to get points out of the match.

Ahead of the fixture, manager Antoine Kombouaré spoke to reporters (h/t Canal Supporters), stating how they’ll use what happened from the super cup matchup and apply any lessons learned to ensure the matchup is closer.

“We have revenge to take in relation to this Champions Trophy final,” Kombouaré said. “First on ourselves because even if PSG played a great game, we didn’t play the game we expected (…) If we compare to our 3-1 victory against them, our athletic statistics were huge compared to the Trophée des Champions.

“As I said, we went there as tourists. That’s why we weren’t happy. We already have revenge to take on ourselves. I think tomorrow we will show another face. But then we always know that when PSG plays at its level, it’s very complicated for any opponent in the French championship.”

Outside of the match against AS Monaco, PSG has dominated Ligue 1, but this matchup against Nantes might see a rotated squad. In addition, the capital club will have to remember Matchday 1 of the UEFA Champions League against Juventus on Tuesday, which will have more importance.
