Why Former PSG Youth Product is Ready for ‘Challenge’ at Sunderland

Paris Saint-Germain youth product Edouard Michut has officially completed his loan move to Championship side Sunderland FC. The midfielder joins the likes of Xavi Simons regarding youth players searching for greener pastures.

The teenager will now get the first team minutes he has been craving to further his development. The English club allows the teenager to play consistently, and the 19-year-old is excited about the new venture.

Michut has spoken about his move to Sunderland and was in attendance for Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Norwich City, which might have played a role in him wanting the loan move to occur.

“I had a fantastic experience at PSG, but now I’m ready for a new challenge and I’m very happy to be here,” Michut said (h/t Sunderland Echo’s Joe Nicholson)

“I traveled to the Stadium of Light on Saturday to watch the game against Norwich and the atmosphere inside the stadium was unbelievable.”

At 19, Michut understands that the opportunity at Sunderland allows him to prove himself in a new league and country to see how he adapts. Regarding the finances, reports indicate a loan agreement at €5 million and what percentage PSG would want in a future sale.

“This is an opportunity for me to level up as a player and I always wanted to play in England, but I also like the project and that is why I’m here,” Michut added. “My preparation for the season has been good and I’m ready to help the team.”

It will be interesting to see if PSG has a clause, much like Simons, where they’re able to have first dibs on possibly buying back their youth academy player should he remain with Sunderland.
