Paris Saint-Germain has opened up the new Ligue 1 season on quite a dominant note. The reigning Ligue 1 champions have picked up three wins in three matches, coupled with 17 total goals scored.
PSG’s stout start to the campaign has brought many to debate on whether the side has what it takes to finish the season unbeaten. No Ligue 1 side has ever capped off a campaign unbeaten. In Europe’s top five leagues, Juventus in the 2011-2012 Serie A season is the last such squad to finish without a loss in a single league campaign.
From PSG midfielder Vitinha’s standpoint, as he touched on following the Ligue 1 win over Lille OSC (via L’Equipe), he sees that his side can accomplish such a feat. However, he is going with a match-by-match mentality for his first season in France’s top flight.
“Yes, well the goal is already to look towards the next game,” Vitinha said. “Not to get too big headed. We know we can do it, but for the moment we’re staying calm and we’ll take it game by game.
“We can see on the pitch that things are going well, that the team is capable of doing what the manager asks of us.”
PSG will continue its league campaign with a home matchup against AS Monaco on Ligue 1 matchday four.
