When Neymar Jr. generated a penalty kick opportunity following the foul committed by AS Monaco defender Guillermo Maripán, all eyes were on who would take the penalty for Paris Saint-Germain.

Manager Christophe Galtier has stated that Kylian Mbappé is the number one shooter for taking penalty kicks for the capital club. However, the Brazil international would step up and convert to tie the game 1-1, which would be the final score.

After the match, Galtier discussed what led Neymar to take the penalty kick over Mbappé.

“The hierarchy of shooters? No, that has not changed,” Galtier Prime Video Sport France postgame. “It’s always Mbappé in one and Neymar in two. But I saw that they exchanged and that Neymar made the decision to fire him.”

“I saw that Mbappé congratulated Neymar. They are also great players. It is also up to them to feel the situation. The most important being that Neymar was marked.”
