On Thursday, Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier spoke with the media. One of the questions the French tactician answered is over the start Neymar is having to the 2022-23 season.
The 30-year-old has scored five goals and recorded six assists through three games. In France, the assists record in a single season is 18, which Ángel Di María and Jérôme Rothen hold, and Galtier discussed whether Neymar could break that record, considering the start he’s off to so far.
“[Neymar] is both a scorer and a passer,” Galtier told reporters. “I saw that there was a record of 18 assists in France held by Ángel Di María at PSG and Jérôme Rothen at Monaco.”
“Can he achieve that goal? Is that a goal for him? I don’t know, but he is a player capable of being decisive against the goalkeeper but also very altruistic. If the partner is better placed than him to score, he will have the right gesture at that moment.”
PSG will be hosting AS Monaco on Sunday at the Parc des Princes, where Neymar hopes to continue the excellent form that he’s off to this Ligue 1 season.
